The Anatolian plateau abounds in numerous varieties of semi-desert and steppe vegetation: wormwood, feather grass, sage, astragalus, camel thorn, tulips and others.

On the shores of the Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean Seas, at an altitude of 600-800 m, there are bushy evergreen formations of dry subtropics, such as maquis: laurel, strawberry tree, wild pistachio, myrtle, oleander, wild olive and other shrubs associated with hardwood; deciduous shrubs - hornbeam, beans, oak and others; wild fruits: walnut, carob, wild plum, wild almond and others; pine, oak and cypress groves. Orchids, bulbs and annuals grow in more open areas.
Representatives of the local fauna are wolves and bears, wild goats and wild boars. In the forests of the mountainous areas there are red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, jackal, fox, leopard, wolf, bear, badger.
