Agriturismo Piedmont
Have you ever thought about an agriturismo holiday? If so, you have chosen one of the best places to do this. Piedmont is a fertile agricultural region with friendly and down to earth locals, where you can have a firsthand experience of the Italian farming culture, famous cuisine and warm hospitality almost anywhere you go! A stay in an agriturismo usually means you will be sleeping in a farm, but that’s not necessary in Piedmont. You can choose any type of accommodation and travel to the nearby farmlands. Proud with their work, farmers will kindly welcome you for a tour in their vineyards and maybe even host a delicious lunch for all.
The agriturismo experience
The term comes from the Italian words “agricoltura” and “turismo”, a hint that Italy is the perfect place for agritourism. Any aspiring farmers and gardeners, foodies, and locavores dream for this kind of holiday. Who else would love this experience? Children! Play with the livestock, pet baby animals, smell the flowers and pick up the vegetables for lunch and dinner, this is a new kind of fun for kids. It also teaches them valuable lessons that their usual environment fails to - how to be humble and grateful; that commitment and gratitude lead you a long way; hard work can be a lot of fun; how to be part of a generous community that helps each other. Maybe it’s useful for us all to “go back to basics” and start appreciating the small things in life. The agriturismo holiday with Nature.house is the perfect opportunity for this. Staying in a rural environment, producing your own food and being surrounded by nature is what you need to unplug from your busy live. Hopefully this will change your daily routine for the better.
The region
Translated from medieval Latin, Piedmont means “at foot of the mountains”. True to its name, the region is a mountainous land with beautiful landscape of hills and valleys. Here you can find the largest glaciers in Italy. The eastern part has numerous serene lakes that are perfect for a relaxing holiday. It is probably interesting to learn that the first Italian capital - Turin, is now the capital city of Piedmont. The region is the second largest in Italy, having 7 out of the 10 biggest cities in the country. Yet, it is an area with many opportunities for rural accommodation. If you want that authentic experience, of course. Being close to the French border, you can argue that the atmosphere in Piedmont is more french than italan, but that’s only until you start exploring deeper the local culture. And what better way to do this than in a local farm?
Agriturismo Piedmont
The community in Piedmont is very close because of the farming culture. Locals joint efforts and rely on themselves for the cultivation and production of everything - fruits, veggies, wheat, milk, cheese, meat, wine... The hills are intensely cultivated. In the core of Piedmont lies the Po River valley that has one of the best farmlands in all of Italy. And some of the country’s highest quality wines are produced south of the valley. The largest rice fields in Europe are also to be found in this region. The daily industry in Piedmont is thriving thanks to the excellent pasture conditions that the Alpine meadows offer. Another thing that is famous for the region are mushrooms and especially the white truffles. This is why Piedmont is where you need to go for an agriturismo holiday. In a farm accommodation in Piedmont you can get close to the life of Italians and experience their heart-warming hospitality.
Accommodation Piedmont
You can choose between many different accommodation types - cottages, b&b’s, apartments, bungalows, or villas. But for an authentic agricultural experience you should probably stay in a farm or a country house. Our homes differ in the level of luxury. For a more luxurious stay check this page. Also think about the place you would like to stay - in the mountains or forests, near the sea, or directly in the fields. Most of our homes are situated in a remote location where you don’t have many neighbours. You can even find houses in the middle of nowhere and be completely independent in your holiday.
