This trip will not require the lengthy research you need to do when you plan a big vacation. It only needs your approval and a ticket! Take a look at the amazing cottages and other nature houses that our team has carefully selected. All nature houses are equipped with all needed facilities for a comfortable stay!
The gems of Belgium
Choose a weekend in April and we have the best suggestion for your trip! Hallerbos is a famous forest known for its enormous bluebell flower population, which covers the ground in April, when it blooms. There are 500 ha of bluebells flourishing in this part of the Flemish Brabant province. April is also the period when the leaves of the beech trees are in their most beautiful form, creating a beautiful light green hue, especially when the sun hits the crowns of the trees. In the same forest, you will also be able to see the huge Sequoia trees.
The Ardennes is an extensive forested region spreading across Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany. The unique landscape of this area is fed by rough terrain, high ridges, many hills and endless forests. Visit the High Fens Nature Reserve. High Fens opened in 1957 and is the oldest in Belgium. It resembles an upland territory with hills. This park is also where you will find the highest point throughout the country – Signal de Botrange at almost 700m. In the plateau of the nature park you will come across raised bogs – acidic wet habitats usually occupied by organisms especially prone to living in the harsh conditions. These bogs are more than 10,000 years old!
Activities
Antwerp is another beautiful province where you can have an authentic medieval experience. The Den Brandt Castle offers visitors a chance to take a stroll through its amazing gardens. Used as a garden of pleasure for the wealthy families in the past, today this park is open to everybody. Visitors also enjoy the Dancing Nymphs statue, and the English Garden? Another place to be.
For a day full of activities, head to Kattevennen– a beautiful park in Antwerp where you can go horseback riding, play mini-golf, or visit the Heempark to watch the animals living there. There are plenty of hiking options as well, which lead you through the pine forests, the valleys, along the small streams, and let you discover the beauty of Kattevennen in peace and quiet. In the Cosmodrome you can watch the stars with the help of the planetarium staff guiding you.
