Do you want to enjoy the space and the silence for a few days? In a place with a special cultural-historical value? This nature house in Nieuw-Schoonebeek is the last remaining cattle hut in the Dutch-German border area of Drenthe. Where used to be a hay barn, is now a comfortable nature house. It is fully equipped and therefore perfectly suited for a short stay and long stay. The surrounding area offers excellent hiking and cycling opportunities. The nature house has its own terrace. From the house and the terrace you have a view over the fields. With a little bit of luck you will see pheasants, hare, roe deer, harriers and kingfishers. Please note: pets are only allowed in consultation.
Nature and surroundings
The nature is situated in a rustic place in the river valley of the "Schoonebeekerdiep". Forest, heathland and peatlands in the immediate area are great for walking or cycling. Hiking and cycling routes are set in the Bargerveen nature reserve. A number of routes also run through the German border region. The ancient settlements of Middeldorp and Oostersebos are beautiful to visit (European Heritage). Emmen, Meppen (Drenthe), Lingen (Drenthe) and the fortified city of Coevorden are larger places with shops, cafes and restaurants. Also worth a visit are the Veenpark, zoo, narrow-gauge museum, golf course, various galleries and sculpture gardens, and a great sauna. Germany is a stone's throw away. An introduction to Germany and German culture makes a stay in this ruralhut extra interesting.
