This cozy nature house is one of two recreational homes on private estate Heezeberg of over 22 acres in Diever, Drenthe. You can fully enjoy nature, peace and quiet and space and you can enjoy hiking and cycling. The estate was long owned by the famous archaeologist Professor Van Giffen and is known for its beautiful scenery, special wildlife and archaeological finds. The nature house is comfortably furnished, fully equipped (including interactive TV, Netflix and very fast Wi-Fi via fiber optics) and can accommodate two to six people who will find an oasis of peace and natural beauty here. By arrangement, two small pets are welcome. French doors provide access to the terrace in front of the cottage. The nature house is heated with a modern central heating system and a wood stove (plenty of wood available free of charge). The estate is classified under the Nature Conservation Act and partially open to pedestrians and cyclists.
Nature and surroundings
The heezeberg estate is located on the outskirts of the village of Diever in Drenthe. It lies between Assen and Meppel. The nature house is about 10 min. walking distance from this picturesque village. Diever is known for its summer markets and for the annual Shakespeare plays in the open-air theater within walking distance of the nature house. The surrounding woodlands and meadows are breeding and habitat for numerous species of birds and small mammals. Remains of burial mounds from the Tjonger culture (about 10,000yrs B.C.) were found on the property and in the surrounding area. You will also find a pingoruin and a badger sett. In the immediate vicinity is a dolmen. The estate borders the National Park Drents-Friese Wold, one of the largest and most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands with 6000 hectares of forest, heath and stream valley grasslands. The National Park Dwingelderveld is also nearby. Here you can enjoy cycling and the forest ranger will gladly take you on an exciting walk. Also visit WILDLANDS Emmen.
