In the southwest corner of National Park Het Drents-Friese Wold lies Doldersum with a small and quiet vacation park without facilities. From the detached nature house you look out over the meadow to the Doldersummerveld. In the woodland garden (about 1,000 m²) you can enjoy until the sun goes down. Ideal for peace seekers and nature lovers. The nights are quiet and dark. There is a large terrace, lawn and children's playhouse. In 2016 the house was completely renovated and equipped with contemporary conveniences, such as a modern kitchen, television, WiFi and as an extra a wood stove. The house sleeps four people and has two bedrooms. There is also a utility room and covered bicycle storage with electricity for bikes you bring with you. Within walking distance you will find De Huenderhoeve with its sheepfold and visitor center. The sheep and lambs of the Drents Landscape regularly graze behind the house. In the early morning you can see deer walking across the field. In clear weather, a beautiful starry sky can be seen at night.

Walks (forest and heath) can be made from the nature house. For bicycle tours the cottage is a great starting point. There are good cycle paths and junction routes. Further away there are routes along the rivers Linde and Tjonger, Drentse Aa, the Reestdal and the Weerribben. Drenthe is known for its dolmens, found in Diever (known for the Shakespeare plays), Havelte and Rolde. Borger is home to "Het Hunebedcentrum" and is home to the largest hunebed (over 20 meters long) with a 20,000-pound capstone. By car you can make several trips. For example, to Giethoorn, Emmen Zoo, Museum Village Orvelte, Remembrance Camp Westerbork, an amusement park in Drouwenerzand, Drents Museum in Assen and the Prison Museum in Veenhuizen. Model gardens can be found in Frederiksoord, Dwingeloo and Zuidlaren. Sculpture gardens can be found in Gees, Dwingeloo, Hooghalen, Exloo and in the Havixhorst near Meppel. You can swim in (heated) outdoor pools nearby (Vledder, Havelte and Noordwolde). Near Appelscha is the swimming lake 'the Aekingermeer'. Stores, supermarkets, eateries and tourist offices can be found in Vledder (four kilometers) and Diever (eight kilometers).
