Surrounded by tall oaks, farmland and a beautiful garden, lies this national monumental, thatched farmhouse from the early 18th century. In the front is the characterful B&B residence that offers complete privacy. The exceptionally spacious accommodation is characterized by original trusses and light yellow wood interior, a cozy wood-burning fireplace with tiled hearth and a rustic tiled floor including comfortable floor heating. All this offers a primal Drenthe ambiance and unique lodging experience. For generations the whole family slept here in the upstairs room, now a 2-person box spring fills this cozy sleeping space. In addition to the very spacious, cozy style room and bedroom, there is a very spacious entrance and ditto toilet-bathroom. Southwest Drenthe is loved for its scenic beauty, unique nature reserves and unprecedented hiking and biking opportunities. From our yard you sit by bike so in National Park Dwingelderveld (Ruinen / Dwingeloo), the Holtingerveld (Havelte / Uffelte), Koekangerveld. Also the watery NP De Wieden-Weerribben (Giethoorn), the Reestdal and Unesco World Heritage The Colonies of Weldadigheid are nearby. Storks, (predatory) birds, hares, deer, but also herds of sheep, cows and horses you will encounter plenty when you go out in SW Drenthe. In original villages such as Havelte, Ruinen, Ruinerwold, Dwingeloo and Diever there is plenty of liveliness and varied catering. Meppel, Giethoorn (and thus NP Weerribben/Wieden) and Steenwijk are also nearby. Two days, a week or longer: beautiful Drenthe will not bore you for a day, even when the weather is not so good.
