February holidays
February is the most romantic month of the year and a great time to enjoy some of the last snow on a holiday, while it is still great for winter sports. There are so many romantic places in Europe where you can combine both romance and snow, while enjoying nature! You get a chance to explore the serene European nature with a loved one(s) and visit some of the most fairytale-like locations in the world.
The houses we offer for a winter holiday are also selected as the most romantic places, located in natural paradises where you can enjoy the views and yourselves. In February, most places throughout Europe still have snow, so if you enjoy it, you will have a great holiday!
Natural wonders of Europe
Iceland is the perfect holiday destination for those who love snow. In February, the country is especially romantic and you can have an amazing adventure. Go on and explore the volcanoes with your travel companion(s) as this is the most remarkable sighting here. The Katla volcano is one of our most favorite destinations! It is one of the biggest in Iceland and is very active. Don’t be scared to visit, as the eruptions nowadays are mostly remarkably small and even just a burst of steam. Your guide will take you through the most spectacular views and ensure your safety. The most interesting part of the volcano is the Natural Ice Cave. This is an amazing place to see the volcano from “inside”.
Germany is another perfect holiday destination for February. Franconia, for example, will amaze you with its beauty and the numerous possibilities to explore it – valleys, cliffs and rivers which you can check out even in the winter with the suitable gear. There are also many picturesque villages and the region is famous for its wine made since Roman times. The most visited place is the little town of Coburg where you can experience German culture in the middle of one of the most beautiful little towns in the country!
Activities
During February you can go skiing in one of the many ski resorts in Germany – Zugspitze, Garmisch Classic, Nebelhorn and Todtnau, with Todtnau being the oldest one. If you want to learn more about culture and traditional German countryside living, you have to visit the Black Forest Open Air Museum where you will be introduced to old farming and crafts techniques inside real farmhouse facilities built in 1620 and used since.
Glaciers are essentially slowly moving rivers of ice, which have covered big parts of Iceland’s territory. Except for a trip to see them from outside, during February is one of the last chances you have to explore the so-called natural glacier ice cave – a truly unforgettable experience. The wintertime is the season when the temperatures are low enough for you to be able to enter the glacier cave. A glacier cave is not just an ice cave. Glacier caves are constantly changing due to the movements of the glacier they are part of, which makes it impossible and very dangerous to enter them without a guide and especially out of the winter season.
