Nordic Lodge
The Nordic countries are home to some of the wildest and unexplored areas of European nature. Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland all have numerous natural resources to share with you. If you want to experience fresh air, rich biodiversity, amazing landscape and clean waters, check out our list of Nordic lodges, which await you on your next great trip to the north. The beautiful Nordic lodges we offer are equipped with all amenities necessary for a comfortable stay in nature for our customers.
A different experience of Nordic nature
Denmark is the smallest of the Nordic countries and is also the only one adjoined to the continental part of Europe. It welcomes visitors with beautiful beaches and a Viking heritage. Travellers can enjoy the Nordic nature in one of the national parks. Kongernes Nordsjælland is one of them, located in the northeast part of the country, the best part of which is the Gribskov forest – and area rich in diverse flora and fauna.
If you choose to go further north – to Finland for example – you will find yourself among thousands of islands and lakes. Together with its neighboring country – Sweden – they share a common UNESCO World Heritage site. The High Coast/Kvarken Archipelago are found in the north part of the Baltic Sea. There are more than 5,000 small islands part of this archipelago continuously being changed by the geological processes of the region – some islands unite while new ones also appear rising nearby, lakes form or disappear into the Baltic Sea.
Although we would like to argue that Iceland itself as a whole must become a recognized national park, the official parks of the country are three: Þingvellir National Park, Vatnajökull National Park, and Snæfellsjökull National Park. Undoubtedly, our favorite is the largest one of these – the Vatnajökull National Park. This park is home to a glacier of the same name, which accounts for 13% of Iceland’s territory and presents visitors with old local traditions and breathtaking panoramic views.
Adventures to consider
Take a bike through the area of Gribskov forest in Denmark or along the coastal route in Norway. The latter cycle path varies in terms of difficulty and can be passed in stages. It travels through the Norway Fjords all the way to the border with Russia and is an unforgettable experience and a favourite bike trail for many professional cyclists. How can we talk about the Nordic countries without mentioning the Aurora sightings? In Finland you can practically see them from anywhere throughout most of the year. If you choose to stay in one of our Nordic lodges the odds are very good that you will likely be able to see the Northern Lights from the comfort of your own cabin. Nevertheless, the most spectacular northern “show” in our opinion happens in Northern Lapland. Moreover, across Finland there are countless trekking routes to enjoy. The Urho Kekkonen National Park, for example, allows you to trek through the wildest territories of Lapland either on foot or on skis.
